Six bottles of classic French Wine, carefully curated by a Somelier
Champagne

The best champagne stays in France. The variety, taste and quality of champagne from small producers without the big budgets for marketing and export far exceeds the big names sold in the UK.
Here we have two bottles from a small producer operating 8 hectares from the village of Pevy in the champagne region.
Try it and see the difference. Best drunk cold at fridge temperature.
The Charente Region
Nestled between Bordeau and the Loire why wouldn’t this region be excellent at producing wine? It was until the 19th century when the Phylloxera virus killed the vines and the region switched to Cognac production. But slowly wines are starting to be produced again and they are definitely worth looking out for.
White L’Oree du Bosquet. 100% chardonnay this is a remarkable dry white wine that is easily a rival to a white Burgundy. Serve at fridge temperature or slightly warmer (9 -12 C) to let the flavours come out.
Red Pique Russe – From a small organic vineyard this is a mixture of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. A vineyard that concentrates on planting the vines closer together than normal. This encourages the vines to grow deep into the soil and improves flavour. A full bodied red wine best drunk at room temperature and will go stunningly with red meats.
The Rhone Valley
Gigondas – an exceptional red wine from the Southern Rhone Valley. From a vineyard started in 1936 and still in the same family today. Another wine that pairs well with red meats. Serve at room temperature ideally decanting it 1 to 2 hours before drinking.
Bourgogne (Burgundy)
Macon- Lugny – Bourgogne are the some of the best white wines you can find anywhere. This one is from the Maconnais region in the southern part of Burgundy. It’s a dry white wine that should be served at fridge temperature or slightly warmer (9 -12 C) to let the flavours come out.
This wine will pair well with most foods but especially fish, seafood, chicken and cheese.
Clay Pigeon Shooting at Hownhall
Voucher for 2 people with 25 shots each, including cartridges and clays. Valid to 8th February 2027
